My Thoughts The old masters paintings like the old rugs remain in short supply. These paintings depict social, historical, and everyday life scenes. Brilliantly executed and masterfully done they all have a story to tell. Before the advent of the television, the automobile, or mass media, art forms like these held great importance. In this art form like all forms of story telling the viewer (audience) is engaged. Through the use of ones own imagination, active as opposed to passive involvement. Imagine a much simpler time when the world was a big place, and seldom did people stray far from “home”. Story telling in all forms was there harbinger, and there imaginations filled in the blanks. Unlike today’s 4 second attention span and the need for instant gratification, time unraveled at a much slower pace. It’s not so long ago, but for those of us living in the big fast paced city’s its almost inconceivable. Luckily we have these masterpieces left to remind us. |
